"The most fascinating challenge for me is finding a style of teaching that is individual for each student and the way they learn.  My goal is to make Music fun by singing, dancing, clapping or even creating stories out of the musical pieces, bringing it all to life for the student."

Erika Zeckser Owen has earned both Bachelor of Music Degree from Northwestern State University (1997) and Master of Music Degree at Indiana University (2001) in Viola Performance.

Erika started learning the violin via the Suzuki method herself at the age of 8 years old.  She later became an active member of the Hawaii Youth Symphony, San Diego Youth Symphony, Civic Youth Orchestra in San Diego, and later was encouraged to switch to the viola and played with San Diego State University Orchestra while still a Senior in High School.

Erika Zeckser Owen continued her pursuit of Music at the University level wherein she was the Principal Violist of Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra, NNSO String Quartet and Indiana University Philharmonic and Concert Orchestras.  After receiving her Degree in 2001, Erika continued to play for numerous Orchestras and Symphonies throughout the USA, Mexico, Canada, and Europe.

Erika relocated to the UK in 2007 and continued to perform with such groups as the Carl Rosa Opera Company Tour, RTE Concert Orchestra Dublin, Maidstone Orchestra, Cambridge Proms Orchestra, Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Restoration, Derby Bach Choir.

Now the mother of two boys, she resides in Nottingham and teaches privately from her home.  She serves as Community Governor for the local Primary school and continues to play in a number of local chamber groups throughout Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.  Erika is also fully DBS checked.
